In 2010, Laura Lee (Then Thinker in Residence on Integrated Design) facilitated a large workshop with over 130 Barossans on a shared vision and plan for agricultural led futures for the wider region. A number of things have happened since then, including the introduction of the Character Preservation legislation, which limits urban growth to town and prioritises uses in the rural areas. Laura will come back to the Barossa to lead the 2019 Think Tank on Barossa: The Business. She will also host two workshops with local government: One in Gawler on the current and anticipated accelerated population growth in Gawler, Two Wells, Roseworthy and Concordia and how it all fits together for a cohesive whole. The second workshop is for Barossa and Light Councils on designing our communities in a post Character Preservation world: innovative ways to increase densities and maintain quality of life, the importance of the built environment and quality heritage of tomorrow, carving out distinctiveness, navigating challenges. These workshops are by invitation only. If you are an invitee and feel someone important to the conversation has not been invited, contact anne@barossa.org.au .
