The Adelaide Plains Council has embarked on an ambitious journey to redefine the heart of Two Wells with a $150 million development plan. This initiative, in partnership with Leyton Property, aims to transform the town centre into a vibrant regional hub, enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors.
Transforming Two Wells
The development is poised on an 8-hectare site acquired from the Crown in late 2022. The plan focuses on expanding the Two Wells retail precinct while integrating seamlessly with the historic Main Street. This integration promises to create a balance between modernity and tradition, offering a unique charm to the town.
A Collaborative Vision
Mayor John Wasley of the Adelaide Plains Council and the South Australian Government have worked closely to secure this significant parcel of land. Mayor Wasley envisions the project as a comprehensive regional hub, encompassing retail shopping, community services, and recreational spaces. “Council has been working with the South Australian Government to secure 8 hectares of land which can now be transformed into a regional hub that will consist of many things including retail shopping, community services, and recreation space,” he explained.
Sustainability at Its Core
A key aspect of this development is its commitment to sustainability. The Adelaide Plains Council aims to incorporate the latest innovations in renewable energy, water recycling, and carbon footprint reduction. Mayor John Wasley has emphasized the importance of sustainable development, stating, “Incorporated into this development will be some of the latest innovations in renewable energy, water recycling, and minimizing the carbon footprint.”
