Schubert Estate has won Best in Show for Australian red wine at the 2024 Mundus Vini competition in Germany. The award was given for the 2021 ‘The Lone Goose’ Shiraz Viognier, which also received a Grand Gold medal.
The winery also picked up gold medals for two other wines: the 2021 Gosling Shiraz and the 2020 Goose Yard Block Shiraz.
Hare’s Chase, a sister winery, received gold medals for the 2022 Endurance Grenache and the 2022 St. Melengall Cabernet Sauvignon.
Mundus Vini is one of the world’s largest wine competitions. Held twice a year in Germany, it attracts more than 12,000 entries. Wines are judged by international experts, and only the top 40 per cent receive medals.
Earlier this year, both wineries were also recognised at the “SAKURA” Japan Women’s Wine Awards. Across both entries, the results included three double-gold medals, one diamond trophy, five gold medals and the Grand Prix pairing prize.
