South Australian wine producers are set to rekindle their presence in the lucrative Chinese market as Trade Minister Hon. Joe Szakacs MP leads a 36-winery delegation to VinExpo in Hong Kong. This initiative comes in the wake of the recent lifting of trade barriers, which had previously stymied a market worth nearly $1 billion annually.
The South Australian Government is backing this reengagement effort with a nearly $2 million support package. VinExpo, Asia’s largest wine show, will see the attendance of 19 local producers who will also travel to Shenzhen to establish critical relationships with Chinese buyers. The Barossa’s Curator Wine Co anticipates a 60% export growth by 2025 as China reemerges as a key market.
This mission, the first since the pandemic, underscores the state’s commitment to the wine industry and its global expansion.
