Regional Development Australia Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains (RDABGLAP) played a key role in the Country Cabinet visit to the Adelaide Plains on February 27, advocating for strategic investment to support regional growth.
At Mallala Football Club, RDABGLAP CEO Jennifer Lynch and Chair Rolf Binder presented to Premier Peter Malinauskas MP and Cabinet Ministers, as well as SA Government agency Executives, highlighting priorities including infrastructure investment, workforce development, and the need for well-planned growth that supports both population and primary production.
“Our region is at a turning point. With the right investment in infrastructure, housing, and education, we can create thriving communities that lead the way in regional innovation and prosperity,” said Jennifer Lynch, CEO. “Direct engagement with the Premier and Cabinet ensures regional priorities are factored into South Australia’s planning and investment decisions.”
RDABGLAP also met with Minister for Human Services Nat Cook MP to discuss regional social services, disability support, and aged care needs, reinforcing the importance of ensuring essential services keep pace with regional growth.
Education was a key focus of the visit, with the Premier announcing a $10 million upgrade to Two Wells Primary School as part of a $50 million commitment to regional school infrastructure.
“Modern school facilities are critical to attracting families and growing our regional workforce,” said Lynch. “It’s great to see this investment in Two Wells Primary School, and we welcome ongoing collaboration to ensure regional education keeps pace with growth.”
The visit reinforced the importance of strong partnerships between government and regional stakeholders. Following formal discussions, RDABGLAP representatives joined community members and government leaders at the Country Cabinet Community BBQ and Forum at Two Wells, where residents had the chance to speak directly with decision-makers about local issues and opportunities for the region.
Rolf Binder, Chair, said the visit highlighted the need for long-term infrastructure and workforce planning to support regional industries and communities.
“Infrastructure, workforce readiness, and well-planned development are the backbone of a strong regional economy,” Binder said. “The right investments today will set up our communities for long-term success.”
