The Australian Government is inviting input for Round 8 of the Mobile Black Spot Program, part of the Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia. This program is providing $55 million in funding to improve mobile and broadband connectivity and resilience in regional and remote areas prone to natural disasters such as bushfires, cyclones, and floods.
The program will co-fund new or upgraded telecommunications infrastructure with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Mobile Network Infrastructure Providers (MNIPs). Funded infrastructure must deliver mobile coverage outcomes to regional and remote communities for an operational period of at least 10 years.
