Leonie Boothby, CEO of Regional Development Australia Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains (RDABGLAP), will step down from her role in December 2024 to take on the position of CEO at RDA Adelaide.
Since taking on the leadership of RDABGLAP in February 2023, Leonie has played a key role in supporting initiatives that have helped shape the region’s approach to growth and development. By working closely with local councils and stakeholders, RDABGLAP has contributed to efforts addressing housing shortages and infrastructure challenges. Advocating for these key economic enablers supports the delivery of the SA’s pipeline of forecast economic investment, estimated at over $3.8 billion across industries such as food production, agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy. These efforts have helped create jobs and strengthened regional competitiveness. RDABGLAP has also supported initiatives to highlight the value of agricultural land and promote sustainable development. Her commitment to workforce development, particularly through the Barossa Regional University Campus, has fostered educational and training opportunities, helping to position the region for future growth.
Rolf Binder, Chair of RDABGLAP, said:
“Leonie’s leadership has been invaluable in guiding our region through this period of progress. Her collaborative approach and strategic insight have left a strong foundation for future development. As Leonie moves on to her new role at RDA Adelaide, we are actively seeking a new RDABGLAP CEO to continue this important work and lead the organisation into its next phase of growth.”
In her new position as CEO of RDA Adelaide, Leonie will oversee initiatives that span all of regional South Australia, championing key regional priorities. Her new role will allow her to advocate for broader development goals at a state-wide and national level, while still ensuring the interests of local government areas like the Barossa, Gawler, Light, and Adelaide Plains are represented.
Leonie Boothby, CEO of RDABGLAP said:
“It has been a privilege to serve the Barossa, Gawler, Light, and Adelaide Plains communities as CEO of RDABGLAP. Together, we’ve achieved significant milestones that will continue to drive sustainable growth and opportunity across the region. I’m excited to embark on my new role at RDA Adelaide, where I look forward to advocating for key priorities to ensure SA continues to thrive at a state-wide and national level.”
