Update September 26: Kapunda High School has won the 2024 South Australian Training Awards in the VET Innovation for Schools category for its innovative VET program in heritage trades. This award recognises excellence in schools that are developing innovative and new mechanisms for encouraging VET pathways in their schools so that their models and programs can be publicised and shared with schools across the state. This unique program, developed in partnership with FCTA, gives students valuable hands-on experience in construction and heritage skills, helping them gain in-demand qualifications as they rebuild their own school after a recent fire. This program not only equips students with practical industry knowledge but also addresses the critical shortage of skilled workers in heritage restoration.
