The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) is inviting expressions of interest to purchase groundwater from six consumptive pools within the Northern Adelaide Plains, Central Adelaide, and Dry Creek Prescribed Wells Areas:
- T1 Regional
- T2 Regional
- Lower Tertiary (T3/T4)
- Golden Grove Embayment
- Noarlunga Embayment
- Northern Fractured Rock
These groundwater resources are managed under the Adelaide Plains Water Allocation Plan, which includes detailed maps of each consumptive pool (see pages 17 and 18). Hardcopy letters and public advertisements will be released soon. However, DEW is reaching out early to ensure key water users and stakeholders are informed.
Pricing for Water Sales
- $3.00 per kilolitre for purposes of ‘public benefit’
- $4.00 per kilolitre for purposes of ‘general use’
How to Express Interest
To express your interest in purchasing groundwater, please the submission form and lodge it with the Department for Environment and Water by 7 February 2025. Submitting an expression of interest does not obligate you to purchase water. There is no guarantee water will be made available for sale.
If your submission is successful, DEW will provide further guidance in writing on the next steps. Purchased water will be issued as a water management authorisation and will be subject to applicable conditions, levies, fees, and charges.
