Gawler is a thriving community known for its traditional main street, rich heritage, and diverse land uses, including residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural areas. As the town continues to grow, particularly through new greenfield estates, it’s crucial to plan for the next 30 years to ensure sustainable and cohesive development.
The Gawler Growth Framework is a comprehensive strategy aimed at guiding the town’s growth, focusing on housing, business development, infrastructure, and access to essential services. Alongside this framework, two other significant planning strategies are being developed: the Gawler Integrated Transport Strategy, which models future transport pressures and infrastructure needs, and the Southern Rural Areas Discussion Paper, which explores options for the town’s rural zones.
How to have your say
The Town of Gawler is seeking feedback from residents, business owners, and community groups to ensure all voices are heard in shaping these crucial plans. Community engagement is open until 18 August 2024, and there are several ways to get involved:
- Online Survey: Share your thoughts from the comfort of your home. The survey is available online from 22 July 2024 until 18 August 2024, with physical copies available at the Gawler Administration Centre.
- Drop-in Sessions: Meet with the planning team and share your ideas in person on 31 July 2024 and 6 August 2024, from 7pm to 9pm at the Gawler Civic Centre, 89-91 Murray Street, Gawler.
- Written Submissions: Submit your detailed feedback via mail to PO Box 130, Gawler SA 5118, or over the counter at the Town of Gawler Administration Centre, 43 High Street, Gawler East.
This collaborative approach will help the Town of Gawler present a well-rounded submission to the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan, promoting a prosperous and well-planned future for Gawler.
