The South Australian Government has released the Draft Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Bill 2025 for public consultation. Led by CreateSA (formerly Arts South Australia) under the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, this new legislation will formalise how the arts are valued and led in the state.
This initiative follows a 2022 commitment to ensure the arts are recognised as a vital part of South Australia’s identity and future. The bill aims to enshrine a framework that reflects the state’s continued leadership and innovation in arts and cultural expression.
Why It Matters
South Australia has a rich legacy of creativity — from groundbreaking festivals to world-class artists and institutions. This legislation is a chance to strengthen that legacy and ensure the state’s creative industries remain vibrant and well-supported.
