The Barossa Cookery Book, first published in 1917, is one of Australia’s oldest community cookbooks and a significant part of the Barossa region’s heritage. Sheralee Menz and Marieka Ashmore, known as Those Barossa Girls, are working to update this iconic publication for a new generation. The project aims to preserve and modernise 85 timeless recipes, providing a full modern method and metric measurements, while also telling the stories of the women who originally contributed to the book.
On 11th October 2024, the Girl Talk Luncheon at Novotel Barossa Valley Resort will offer an opportunity to support this important project. The event will feature a 3-course meal and wine, with special guest Maggie Beer. Attendees will also get an exclusive preview of the updated Barossa Cook Book Companion.
This luncheon is a fundraising initiative, with all proceeds directed towards the development of the Barossa Cook Book Companion. The event is organised by a committee including Sheralee Menz, Marieka Ashmore, Maz McGann, Alice Lienert, Fiona Sheppard, Ally Gossen, Vanessa Ingram, and Tracy Page.
