Aimpoint, a Gawler-based defence training organisation, recently joined a U.S. trade tour as part of the AUKUS agreement—a partnership between Australia, the UK, and the US aimed at enhancing defence cooperation. The tour included visits to major U.S. defence facilities, such as Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest military shipbuilding company in the U.S.
Aimpoint was joined by fellow members of the Edinburgh Industry Alliance, including REDARC Defence & Space, Century Engineering, and QMS NDT. The Edinburgh Industry Alliance, based in northern Adelaide, focuses on utilising local industrial and business capabilities to meet Australia’s defence needs.
Aimport Executive Director Mark Robinsin said “Our engagement with key industry leaders and organisations in the US opens up exciting avenues for collaboration. This trip underscores our dedication to fostering strong international partnerships that will benefit both our local community and the broader defence sector.”
The tour highlighted the importance of integrating Australian expertise into global defence projects, showcasing the potential for our region’s businesses to contribute significantly to international defence initiatives.
