The recently released 2024-25 Federal Budget was presented today by the Hon Dr Jim Chalmers MP, Treasurer of Australia.
This budget introduces 134 new initiatives building on around 350 regional projects previously set forth, encapsulating an overarching vision to bolster local economies. Key highlights include:
- $22.7 billion Future Made in Australia plan, focusing on pivotal industries such as hydrogen production, critical minerals, solar manufacturing, and battery technology.
- Education and workforce development with a $1.6 billion investment to reform the tertiary education system and introduce FEE-FREE Uni Ready courses.
- Support for vulnerable Australians, with substantial funding aimed at domestic violence support programs and enhanced job and economic development initiatives for First Nations communities.
- Infrastructure and liveability upgrades such as a $1.2 billion investment in critical infrastructure projects, new housing provisions, and the Active Transport Fund to improve regional transportation networks.
