The rebate for sheep and farmed goat electronic identification (eID) has been expanded to include all 8 colours in the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) year-of-birth (YOB) colour system for accredited eID tags. Applications are open to SA sheep and goat producers who purchase eligible NLIS-accredited tags not designated for the current year.

Applications close on 30 June 2025 at 5:00 pm.
Eligible eID tags must be purchased between 1 January 2023 and 30 June 2025.
Amounts
You can apply for a rebate on the purchase price of eligible eID devices of 50% up to a cap of $0.95 (GST exclusive) per tag.
Who can apply
The eID device rebate is open to South Australian sheep and farmed goat producers who:
- have an active property identification code (PIC) registered with PIRSA
- purchased NLIS-accredited eID tags in 2023 that were not sky blue
- purchase NLIS-accredited eID tags that do not align to the designated YOB colour
- provide invoices and proof of payment for purchases between 1 January 2023 and 30 June 2025.
Tags must be purchased from the list of accredited eID devices to be eligible for rebate.
Eligible year-of-birth colour (YOB) eID tags are:

The rebate excludes:
- pink post-breeder tags, colours outside of the YOB colour system (for example: brown and grey)
- non-NLIS accredited devices
- tags that align to the current YOB colour (black in 2024, white in 2025).
How to apply
If you have multiple PICs, you need to complete the application process for each PIC.
You will need the following information to complete your application:
- PIC number
- Property location (address) and Local Government Area
- Banking details in the name of the rebate applicant
Apply for eID device rebate
You will need to upload copies of:
- official tax invoices
- full evidence of payment (eg. bank statements, supplier statements, paid invoices)
- a signed and witnessed eID Rebate Acquittal (793.0 KB DOCX) (this is a legal requirement)
- a statement by supplier not quoting ABN form (if relevant).

What happens next
You will receive a receipt number upon submitting the online form. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval of a rebate.
Applications will be assessed by PIRSA in the order they are received, and outcomes will be advised in approximately 4 weeks.
