In the Barossa, Gawler, Light, and Adelaide Plains regions, our communities are navigating a range of challenges and opportunities. The Empowered Leaders Program is a course comprised of 7 sessions that will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and connections to lead our community. Delivered by RDABGLAP in partnership with the Leaders Institute of South Australia, and funded by PIRSA, this program is tailored to empower you to make a lasting impact on the future of our region.

Applications for this program closed on Friday 13 September, 2024. We are now processing applications and applicants will be notified of application results by 30 September, 2024.

Eligibility

The Empowered Leaders Program is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in our community. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or someone aspiring to take on more responsibility, this program can help you build the skills and connections you need to succeed.
  • You live, work, or identify with the Barossa, Gawler, Light, or Adelaide Plains region, including those with ties to Ngadjuri, Peramangk, or Kaurna Country.
  • You are over 18 years of age.
  • You have a strong passion for improving your community.
  • You are eager to develop your leadership skills, whether or not you hold a formal leadership position.
  • You bring a diverse background and perspective—where your unique experiences, including those related to ability, age, race, gender, culture, and economic status, are welcomed and valued.

Learning Topics

Enhanced Leadership Skills

By the end of the program, you will have developed essential leadership competencies, including strategic thinking, governance, and inclusivity. You will also gain deeper self-awareness and confidence in your leadership style through tools like the TICK personality assessment.

Stronger Community Connections

You will build meaningful relationships with fellow leaders, creating a network of support and collaboration. Through the Community Action Initiative, you will apply your learning to real-world issues, contributing to tangible improvements in our community.

Strategic Planning Abilities

Learn how to develop and implement effective strategic plans for both your organisation and your personal leadership journey. Gain insights into leading change and managing resistance within your community or organisation.

Resource and Funding Management

Acquire practical skills in identifying and securing funding opportunities. Develop the ability to write successful grant applications and manage resources effectively.

Effective Communication Skills

Master the art of crafting and delivering impactful presentations. Improve your ability to engage and influence others through storytelling and mindful communication.

Long-Term Personal and Professional Growth

Create an ongoing learning plan to continue developing your leadership skills beyond the program and connect with an alumni network that supports your continued leadership journey.

Cost

The program is valued at $3,200, but thanks to funding from PIRSA, participants pay just $320.
