South Australia’s wine industry has achieved remarkable international acclaim at the Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards in Germany, with both Schubert Estate Wines from the Barossa Valley and Taylors Wines from the Clare Valley receiving top honours.
Schubert Estate Wines was awarded the ‘Best of Show Australian red’ for its exquisite 2018 Goose-Yard Block Shiraz, a testament to the Barossa Valley’s rich winemaking heritage and the skill of its vintners. This accolade shines a spotlight on the Barossa Valley, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest red wines.
Meanwhile, Taylors Wines was not only celebrated for their Chardonnay, winning ‘Best of Show Australian white wine,’ but also earned the title of Best Producer from Australia, further solidifying Clare Valley’s reputation for high-quality wine production. These awards highlight the dedication and hard work of our local winemakers, particularly in overcoming recent challenges to maintain Australia’s standing on the world wine map.
With a total of 43 gold medals awarded to South Australian wineries, this year’s Mundus Vini Awards underscore the exceptional quality and diversity of our wine regions.
