Barossa Village is planning the Heritage Park Precinct Project in Nuriootpa, Barossa Valley, to build 100 mixed housing options for older residents. The development aims to integrate these homes with the local community and existing infrastructure, prioritising dementia-friendly design and sustainability.
The 10-hectare site, which includes 3.5 hectares of greenfield land, will connect with nearby schools, community facilities, and the economic hub of the township. Barossa Village has applied for funding through the Australian Government’s Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) to support the project.
“We are excited to collaborate with our partners on the Heritage Park Precinct Project,” said Ben Hall, CEO of Barossa Village. “This innovative project has the potential to meet the growing needs of our ageing population while fostering a vibrant, multi-generational environment. We are thrilled about the potential to create a space where individuals can thrive, connect, and belong.”
Leonie Boothby, CEO of RDABGLAP, added, “The Barossa Village Heritage Park Precinct has the potential to set a new benchmark in regional development that will have a lasting impact on our community.”
Barossa Mayor Bim Lange expressed support, stating, “It’s exciting to see Barossa Village take the initiative in developing the Heritage Park Precinct. The Barossa Council has already invested in this project, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to achieve meaningful community, socially inclusive, and economic outcomes.”
