A development application has been lodged for a new 150-room, five-star hotel in the Barossa Valley. Proposed by South Australian property investment firm Strategic Alliance, the Tweedies Gully Winery and Tourist Accommodation Project will be located on Hoffnungsthal Rd, halfway between Williamstown and Lyndoch.
The proposed hotel will feature a restaurant, bar, day spa, and other facilities, catering to both the public and hotel guests. The development aims to use the 21.5ha site primarily as a fully operational vineyard with an upgraded existing winery. The new buildings are mostly low-profile and in line to fit into the landscape. Hon Nick Champion MP, Minister for Planning, stated, “We want to ensure the project embodies the region and adopts sensitive design which complements, rather than competes with, its surrounds and is respectful of the unique character of the Barossa landscape.”
The impact assessment of the development will include a significant public consultation process and a thorough examination to investigate potential bushfire hazard risks, traffic impacts, infrastructure requirements, urban design, and water management. The assessment process will be overseen by SA Planning Commission. Image Credit: Ekistics
