Dr Laura Hodgson
Economic Development Manager
With significant experience in researching housing and economic development, Laura connects academic research with government policy makers to benefit communities.
Her PhD research considered the contemporary, globalised economy from which Airbnb has emerged and examined the impact of Airbnb on metropolitan and non-metropolitan housing markets in Australia. Pertinent to her current role, Laura's research focused on the economic implications of Airbnb for local government and other stakeholders in both a global city and a regional community.
Laura has presented her academic research at the National Planning Congress and Australian Local Government National General Assembly, as well as at academic conferences. Further she is active in economic networks, as Deputy Chair of the SA branch of Economic Development Australia and Director of Mentoring with the SA Women in Economics Network.
Beyond her academic and economic experience, she has current entrepreneurial and small business experience as a yoga teacher and business mentor and is a Deputy Chair of the Victor Harbor Horse Tram’s Audit Committee.
