For Immediate Release
Tanunda South Australia: The Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains region is experiencing significant housing and population growth, with a $2 billion investment pipeline forecast as part of the Regional Development South Australia (RDSA) Regional Blueprint 2023, released today. The blueprint outlines an impressive $62.56 billion investment pipeline across regional South Australia. This is up from $44.6 billion calculated in September 2022.
Leonie Boothby, CEO of Regional Development Australia Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains (RDABGLAP) highlights the impact of this investment on the region:
“Our region is on the verge of substantial growth, with major residential developments underway or on the horizon. RDA BGLAP is fully committed to partnering with governments and industries to facilitate this investment, creating connections between employers and skilled workforces while ensuring local residents benefit from new job opportunities.”
Addressing Housing Challenges:
“While the region welcomes substantial expansion, it also acknowledges the urgent need for diverse housing options and affordable rentals to meet the evolving needs of our communities and workforce,” Leonie says.
Rolf Binder, Chair of RDA BGLAP, emphasises the power of collaboration driving regional progress:
“RDA BGLAP collaborates closely with regional stakeholders and the wider RDA network across SA to support planning and infrastructure initiatives that enable private sector investment. We’re focused on creating jobs and understanding the needs of our local workforce, creating opportunities to upskill or reskill local people and new residents to take advantage of emerging opportunities.“
Aligning with our regional strengths:
“The $2 billion forecast investment in the BGLAP region strategically aligns with the region’s strengths, encompassing primary industries, value-add, tourism, circular economy, manufacturing, education, light industry, and residential development. Complementing these private sector endeavours are public infrastructure projects, including water, road, and civic infrastructure, set to support growth,” Rolf says.
