Martin McCarthy has served as the Chief Executive Officer of The Barossa Council since 2012, contributing to improvements in community engagement, economic development, and infrastructure, in line with the region’s cultural and environmental context. With a background in finance, economics, and business management at both state and local government levels, Martin has been an effective member of various boards.
Before this, he held the CEO position at Kingston District Council for over seven years, implementing strategic and administrative initiatives that positively influenced the local community and regional development.
Earlier in his career, Martin worked as a Business Manager at the Crown Solicitor’s Office in Adelaide, where he gained valuable experience in governance and legal frameworks, enhancing his public administration skills.
His return to our board brings a depth of knowledge and a history of focused leadership, with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility and community-oriented development. His ongoing dedication to Barossa, Gawler, Light, and Adelaide Plains continues to drive meaningful and sustainable growth in these communities.
